On Jan. 25, the fifth and sixth grade math teams from Cape Elizabeth Middle School attended the Southern Maine math meet held at the Portland Expo.
Over 300 students representing 27 school districts competed in three categories: arithmetic, geometry, and team. The 6th grade team came in second place with Ethan DiNinno, Chris Burke, and Thomas Bottomley all winning individual awards.
The fifth grade team came in first place with Sam Sherman, Travis Delano, and Matt Gilman earning individual awards. Both teams practice throughout the year with their coach Evan Solender, a fifth grade math teacher.
