Last week’s photo of the South Windham train station raised a lot of interest and several have asked about the station at Newhall, a section of Windham not too far from South Windham village. Newhall at one time was the site of a gunpowder manufacturing mill, and later a company made wood fiber here. Over the years there were many different industries located near the Presumpscot River. The oldest general store now in Windham, Thayer’s, is located in Newhall. The Newhall train station, shown here as it looked in the 1930s, was closed March 15, 1932.
