Mar 30-Apr. 2: Lake Region High School Drama presents Beauty and the Beast March 30- April 2. Based on the book by Linda Woolverton, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice the show will run March 30 and 31 at 7 p.m. April 1 at 3p.m. and 7 p.m and April 2 at 3 p.m. Tickets will be $10 and for children 12 and under they will be $5. April 4, 7:30 p.m. Opera Workshop Presents: Mozart and More!
Students perform in a “scenes” evening rich with Mozart, and featuring a fun section of Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss. Directed by Ellen Chickering. $6 general public; $3 faculty, students, and seniors. USM’s Corthell Concert Hall, FMI 780-5555.
Apr. 5: Saint Joseph’s College sponsors “Seeing/Being Awake: Zen and the Photography of Thomas Merton,” a lecture and photo slideshow presented by Sr. Marilyn Sunderman, associate professor of theology at Saint Joseph’s College, in Room 128, Harold Alfond Hall, at the Standish campus from 7-8:30 p.m. Free and open to the public.
Apr. 6: Da Ponte String Quartet performs a “Noonday Concert” at 12:15 p.m. at First Parish Church, 425 Congress St. in Portland. Free.

Apr. 7: An Evening of Brazilian Music. 8 p.m. Samba New York! brings the national sound of Brazil to Gorham with the dynamic rhythms of samba.
