On March 29, police met with an Ocean House Road area resident about a stolen checkbook. The thief tried to use the checks in the greater Portland area, but the owner had closed the account. A family member has been identified as the suspect and the case is under further investigation.
On April 3, a wallet was stolen from an unlocked Volkswagen parked in the Broad Cove area. The vehicle owner, an Ocean House Road area resident, said the wallet held several credit cards, a driver’s license and some cash.
On April 5, at 12:45 p.m., police received a call from a Spurwink Avenue resident that a dog was off-leash walking with its owner on the Charles E. Jordan Road.
On April 7 at about 11:30 a.m., a Mitchell Road resident reported an identity theft. Her college age son, in school overseas, had his wallet stolen in Massachusetts earlier in the year. Somebody attempted to cash stolen checks with his ID in Massachusetts.
On April 7 at about 2:20 p.m., police warned shoplifters not to return to a local business. According to the shopkeeper, the shopper had assisted a friend while shoplifting and was asked not to return.
On April 9, at about 8:49 p.m., Police received a call that a South Portland resident was missing and might be in Cape Elizabeth. The missing person was located soon after by the caller.
On April 10, a Two Lights Road area resident reported a missing Verizon camera phone. The phone is valued at $50.
Summonses
On April 5, Patrick Landers, 22, of 31 Alder Street, Portland, was issued a summons on Scott Dyer Road for failure to produce insurance.
On April 5, Stephen Haines, 39, of 31 Warren Avenue, was issued a summons on Mitchell Road for an unregistered vehicle over 150 days.
Fire and Rescue
The Cape Elizabeth Rescue responded to seven calls between April 4 and April 10. Three patients were transported to Maine Medical Center, two to Mercy Hospital and two required no transport.
The Cape Elizabeth Fire Department responded to an alarm activation on Humphrey’s Road at 2:23 p.m. on April 4; an alarm activation on Shore Road at 9:31 a.m. on April 5; an alarm activation on McKenney Point Road at 1:07 p.m. on April 5; an alarm activation on Scott Dyer Road at 3:00 p.m.
