Day One’s Board of Directors unanimously elected their new slate of officers for 2006 at a recent board meeting.

Dianne Nason, of Gorham, a vice-president and senior trust officer at Key Bank, McDonald Financial Group will serve as president. Jack Quirk, of Raymond and human resources manager at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, will serve as vice president. Steve Eddy, of Scarborough, a senior vice-president at TDBanknorth Wealth Management Group will remain the board treasurer. David Mount, of Shapleigh, who works in the marketing department for Goodall Hospital was elected board secretary.

“I have seen many Day One accomplishments since I have become involved with the organization,” said Nason, who has served on the board since 1999. “The biggest difference I see today is the awareness of Day One and the overall issue of adolescent substance abuse. My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing the results of our work. All you have to do is see one child affected by substance abuse who has been helped by Day One and you will want to get involved. If more people get involved, we can turn every child into a success story.”

Day One deals with adolescent substance abuse. The organization provides nearly thirty programs statewide dealing with a spectrum of care that includes prevention, intervention, treatment, and aftercare.

Its flagship programs include the Natural Helpers of Maine prevention program, six Juvenile drug treatment courts, the Juvenile Treatment Network, the nation’s only statewide adolescent treatment network and the James C. Harrod Residential Treatment Center, the state’s only twelve-month residential treatment program for adolescents.
