That’s too bad that the YMCA will be stopping its efforts raising money for a YMCA in Scarborough. I’ve read supporters have collected $1 million in donations and will return the money if requested.
Here’s an idea. The YMCA officials could donate the $1 million to Ruth’s Reusable Resources, which was practically put to the street when the YMCA came to Scarborough. That triggered the 3R’s to begin its own efforts to raise money to find another home.
What a great way for the YMCA to leave Scarborough knowing its fundraising efforts weren’t for nothing after all. The Y wouldn’t just be helping Ruth’s Reusable Resources get a bigger home, but it would also be helping teachers and their students across Maine. That’s what the three “R”s are all about.
