Deering (3-0) at South Portland (0-3)

The South Portland football team has yet to win this season. Things will not be getting any easier for the Red Riots as they face Deering this week. The Riots have been blown out by two of their three opponents and have yet to score in double digits.

Deering, meanwhile, has only been tested once by Portland and is one of the strongest teams out there. It will probably be another long night for South Portland.

Prediction: Deering 49-6

Thornton Academy (1-2) at Scarborough (0-3)

The Red Storm have been trying to weather the storm all season. They have not been in any of the games they have played so far. Opponents have outscored them, 121-13, in just three games.

The Trojans are coming off a big win at home over Sanford Saturday, 35-0. That win was a long time coming for Thornton, who had dropped two close ones to start he year. If Max Baillargeon has a game similar to Saturday, Thornton should win easily.

Prediction: Thornton Academy 28-7

Greely (3-0) at Cape Elizabeth (3-0)

This could prove to be the game of the week. Both teams are unbeaten and both have put up a lot of points and held opponents at bay. The combination of quarterback Sean Vaughan and Matt Harris have been giving Greely’s opponents plenty of fits. The Capers will need to stop that two-pronged attack.

The Capers have a great attack of their own in the form of Sean Meagher, who has scored five touchdowns in three games. The Cape defense has been suffocating all year, holding teams to just 10 points.

Prediction: Cape Elizabeth 24-21

Last week’s record: 2-1
