Defense was everything in Cape’s big match-up with York last Friday night.
Both team’s were 2-0 before the contest began. The Capers shut down the powerful running game of the defending western Maine champs to win 14-8.
Above left, captain Devon Freitas (53), Sean Meagher (44) and Nathaniel Lavallee (60) combine to stop a Wildcat runner before any gain. That’s Freitas with Wyatt Morin (55) and Adam Danielson (22) charging into the York line on another play (above, center).
Meagher continued his outstanding season, rushing for more than 100 yards and a touchdown.
Tucker Emerson caught a pass from Jim Bump for the other Cape score, while Patrick Gallant (99) (above, right) runs with one of several receptions from Bump.
