South Portland police had made no arrests by Tuesday morning in connection with an armed robbery at a South Portland convenience store early Sunday.
Police said that at 4:02 a.m. on Nov. 19, two men wearing ski masks entered the Blue Canoe store at 474 Westbrook St. Brandishing weapons, the robbers, who were caught on camera, demanded money from the cash register. There were two customers and one employee in the store. The customers were threatened, but no one was injured, police said.
The pair fled the store on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, crossing Westbrook Street and heading east toward Pape Chevrolet. A search team found nothing, leaving police to believe the suspects had a getaway vehicle in the area.
The suspects were both described as white males in their late teens or early 20s, about 6-feet tall with medium builds. One was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, tan pants and a black ski mask. The other wore a dark-colored jacket, jeans and an orange ski mask.
Police Sgt. Steve Webster said Tuesday that the department is slowly gathering more information and following up on calls from witnesses.
He also said his department has been in contact with the Brunswick Police Department regarding similar robberies in the area.
