The line stretched out the door Saturday at Len Libby Candies as visitors and customers waited for the chance to make their own candy canes at the Scarborough store’s annual candy cane event. Len Libby Candies, located on Route 1, has been in the business of making candy for 75 years and treating people to traditional, warm candy canes for 10 years.

Candymaking brothers Bob and Tom Daniels were in charge of molding and cutting the basic straight canes, leaving the shaping up to the creativity of their visitors. Bob Daniels estimated that between 2,000 and 3,000 candy canes would be made that day.

“We always have red-and-white Saturday after Black Friday,” joked Daniels.
