Members of the Scarborough United Methodist Church, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. David Calhoun, braved the cold last Saturday and Sunday nights to put on a live Nativity scene.
“It’s a way for us to give back to the community,” said Calhoun.
The parishioners have set up the Nativity each winter now for five years.
“The first year, we had bathrobes and Burger King crowns,” said Calhoun, who remembered grimly that it also rained on both nights that year.
This year the weather was clear and cold, and the costumes were more authentic. The stable even hosted a live sheep and a calf, carefully tethered in the hay.
