Westbrook’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take Sunday from 5-6 p.m. at Riverbank Park. The ceremony will begin with Christmas carols in which anyone can join. Santa Claus arrives at 5:10 p.m., followed by the lighting of the tree at 5:30 p.m.

The Westbrook American reported in its issue of Nov. 28, 1956, that William H.S. Ellingwood, a former joint superintendent for Westbrook and Gorham schools for eight years, had died at 85.
