Ongoing events:

• Lakes Region Farmer’s Market runs 8 a.m. to noon until Oct. 13. Rain or shine at Manchester Elementary School on Route 302 in North Windham.

• Steep Falls Public Library: Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon. A free story hour for toddlers and preschool children is held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Story hour is free and open to the public.

• Active Senior Citizens of Standish holds meetings the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 11 a.m. at the Steep Falls Fire Barn. Lunch is $3 and reservations are required before 9 a.m. the Monday prior to the meeting. To reserve a spot, call Alvida at 642-4929 or June at 727-6215.

• A Caregiver’s Support Group meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Bridgton Community Center from 1:30 to 3 p.m. This discussion group is sponsored by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association. • American Legion Standish Memorial Post 128 meets every second and fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Kiwanis Beach Road Club House on Route 25 in Standish. All veterans, past and present, are welcome.

• The Windham Fire Department sponsors a child car seat inspection every third Wednesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Windham Fire Station. FMI 892-1912.

• Avalon Lakes Region Food Pantry in Naples has been helping the southern Maine community since 2003. Call 693-3056 for an appointment.

June 30: The Hawthorne Community Association holds its annual Strawberry Festival 6-8 p.m. at the historic Nathaniel Hawthorne House at the corner of Cape and Hawthorne roads in Raymond. June 30: From 5 to 6 p.m., enjoy an “Italian Interlude” at the Casco Village Church United Church of Christ, Route 121 in Casco Village. Enjoy a romantic atmosphere and dine on delicious homemade Italian fare, including lasagna, pasta, garlic bread, salad, beverages, and an assortment of wonderful desserts. $6 adults and $3 for children 12 and under. June 30: American Red Cross blood drive at Windham Assembly of God on Route 302 in Windham from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

July 5-22: Schoolhouse Arts Center presents the musical comedy Guys and Dolls. Thursday, Friday & Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 5 p.m. Additional performances on July 11 and 18 are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $14/$16. Call 642-3743 for reservations.

July 20-21: The Saco Valley Fiber artists will be offering their annual workshop on Friday, July 20th and Saturday July 21 at Shearbrooke Farm in Standish. Half- and full-day classes are available in weaving, spinning, rug hooking, rug braiding, felting, dyeing, bead knitting, and much more. July 23: In collaboration with the Windham Public Library, the Windham Cancer Support Group is proud to announce that Meg Wolff will have a book signing and Q&A session at the library at 6pm.
