A subcommittee of the Scarborough Recreation Committee has been meeting to talk about parks in town and is looking for feedback from Scarborough residents.

Nancy Gaudet, a member of the subcommittee, said she has fond memories of visiting Deering Oaks Park in Portland with her grandmother. She said she still enjoys going to parks and seeing the different kinds of people that use them. Gaudet said on a recent visit to Memorial Park, she met a woman who lives in an apartment building playing with her children in the park.

“Some of us have the luxury of neighborhoods with sidewalks,” Gaudet said. “If you don’t have that, where do you go?”

As part of the recreation committee’s effort to find out what parks mean to local residents, it is asking Scarborough citizens to respond to the following questions:

What do you like best about parks you visit today?

What items/areas of a park make it appealing?

Responses can be e-mailed to ngaudet1@maine.rr.com, or Gaudet can be called at 885-0723.
