American Red Cross blood drives in Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth this month can help meet the needs of hospital patients in Maine and New England.

On Friday, the Maine Veterans’ Home on Route 1 in Scarborough will be the site of a drive from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

On Thursday, Sept. 27, the Cape Elizabeth Fire Station will host a drive from 2-7 p.m.

To donate blood and platelets through the American Red Cross, individuals must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. For additional information or to sign up, call 1-800-GIVE LIFE. The Web site is www.newenglandblood.org.
