Fire and Rescue

Between Oct. 9 and Oct. 15, the Cape Elizabeth Rescue squad transported six patients to Maine Medical Center and two to Mercy Hospital.

On Oct. 10, at around 12:30 p.m., the fire department responded to an activated smoke detector on Scott Dyer Road.

On Oct. 13, at around 1:30 p.m., the fire department responded to a structure fire on Shore Road.

On Oct. 14, at around 9:20 a.m., the fire department responded to a furnace problem on Preble Street.

Bad checks

On Oct. 7, at around 11:30 a.m., a representative of Pond Cove IGA reported receiving three bad checks from one person. The business has tried to contact the suspect with no result. A warrant has been requested from the court.

Marsh madness

On Oct. 6, at around 3:30 p.m., a bike was found in the marsh area on the side of Route 77 near the starting line of the Beach to Beacon. The bike is a blue Schwinn Mirada 21-speed with significant rust and appears to have been in the marsh for some time. It was returned to the Cape Elizabeth Police Department.

Charging ahead

On Oct. 10, at around 3:15 p.m., a resident of the Spurwink Avenue area reported unauthorized charges on her checking account. She has contacted the bank fraud division. The case is under further investigation.
