Sheriff’s deputies discovered $210,000 of marijuana while looking for a domestic violence offender in Naples Monday afternoon.

Seized along with the 32 pounds of high-grade processed marijuana from a trailer at 75 Sand Road was more than $11,000 in cash, a 2003 Honda Accord and an ATV. Officials said they believe the drugs were grown in Central America and transported by automobile to Maine for distribution.

Arrested were Richard “Dickey” Hudson, 42, of Naples, John Dana, 47, of Columbia, South Carolina and Vickie Leblanc, 40, of Kingston Rhode Island.

Hudson and Dana are being charged with aggravated trafficking, which is a class A crime, and Leblanc is charged with possession of methadone, a Class C crime.

Sheriff Mark Dion said sometimes the law has good luck. He said Deputies Steve Welsh and Raymond McIntire were at the residence looking to arrest a subject for a domestic assault case in Waterville when they discovered the drugs and obtained a search warrant. Maine Drug Enforcement Agents were called in to assist the investigation.

Dion would not say if Hudson, who lived at the location where the drugs were seized, was the suspect in the domestic violence case. He added that Hudson and Dana have long records of drug dealing and Leblanc has a record of drug possession.

“These are not rookies to the drug trade,” he said.

Dion said the area around Sebago Lake is attractive to drug dealers because of the remote, rural climate. He said he wants to let Southern Maine residents know the Sheriff’s Department is working to catch more drug offenders.

Dion said there was additional evidence seized that could lead to further arrests.
