The Westbrook American reported on Feb. 27, 1963, that Gorham’s budget committee recommended a budget of $577,746, up $63,3224.95 from the previous year. Gorham had $100,000 in surplus cash on Jan. 31, 1963.

In Buxton, Mr. and Mrs. Justin Merrill thanked their friends and relatives for help they received after their home burned out several weeks before. The Buxton, Bar Mills and Hollis Grange sponsored a benefit supper. The Merrills lived in a trailer while a new home was constructed.
