Maine Mortgage Group of Scarborough was brought before the Superior Court last week under the State’s Unfair Trade Practice Act Complaint. The state is charging Maine Mortgage Group with falsifying a homeowners mortgage application in order to persuade lenders to grant the homeowners loan. “Loan brokers should never assist a homeowner in misleading a bank to believe that the loan application is sounder than it is,” said Steve Rowe, state Attorney General. Falsification of loan application has resulted in the Maine Mortgage Group paying $3,615 in restitution costs, and a $5,000 civil penalty.
