Yes, this winter has been brutal.
According to Scarborough Town Manager Ron Owens, the town so far has spent $2,540 for road salt, versus $1,530 last year; $22,000 on reparing and replacing snow plow truck blades versus $12,000 last year, and $110,000 in overtime versus $106,000 last year.
And the year is far from over.
Owens said the town will still stay on budget, if the weather cooperates. If not, he said, he could soon be asking council for some extra money.
