John Coit of Cape Elizabeth has been awarded a summer internship in Sen. Susan Collins’ Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee office in Washington, D.C.

“During John’s internship, he will be able to learn the inner workings of a congressional office by experiencing it first-hand. I welcome John to my staff,” Collins said in a statement.

Coit will be a junior at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, where he is majoring in government and Spanish. Following his time in Washington, he will travel to Buenos Aires to study at the Universidad Torcuata di Tella. He is the son of Margaret and David Coit of Cape Elizabeth.
