The South Portland Democratic Committee will host the annual Tri-Town Democratic Barbecue Picnic on Thursday, July 24, from 5:30-8 p.m., at the South Portland home of Linden Thigpen and George Pavloff at 39 Victory Ave.

The event is free and jointly sponsored by the Democratic committees of South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and Scarborough. In case of heavy rain, the event will be held Thursday, July 31, at the same time and location.

This year’s gathering of Democrats from the three communities will celebrate recent electoral triumphs and gather support to help elect Democratic candidates to the White House, the U.S. Senate and House and the Maine Legislature this fall. Invited to attend are Gov. and Mrs. John Baldacci, U.S. Rep. Tom Allen, a Senate candidate. In addition, local legislators who have been invited include Sen. Lynn Bromley; Sen. Phil Bartlett; Representative Larry Bliss, Senate candidate for District 7; Reps. Jane Eberle, Bryan Kaenrath, Cynthia Dill and Peggy Pendleton; and Terry Morrison, House candidate in South Portland’s District 122.

Picnic guests will be able to pick up candidate campaign materials and information on how to volunteer for the campaigns.
