Those who are pregnant and planning a natural birth are invited to to learn about labor and birth and how to work through labor without using pain medications at The Birth House in Bridgton.

A variety of coping techniques will be covered including movement, massage, meditation and the use of water. Topics include breastfeeding and postpartum recovery and women will learn that pregnancy and birth are normal and natural life processes while discovering their strengths and capabilities.

Childbirth preparation classes familiarize women and their support partners with what might be expected from labor and birth, while providing a chance to meet like-minded parents. These relationships can last into the first years of parenthood and can be a valuable source of support.

AnnMarie RianWanzeck, a certified professional midwife, will be the instructor for theses classes. She is a practicing midwife, doula and mother. This class is open to all pregnant women due between early November and mid-January.

Classes will be held five Wednesday evenings, 7-9 p.m., beginning Sept. 10 and ending Oct. 8. Classes will be held The Birth House, 28 South High St., in Bridgton. Call 647-5919 or e-mail [email protected] to register or for more information.
