At the public hearings debating the issues of Stroudwater Place, those who asked realistic, objective questions were branded anti-business.
One City Councilor passionately asked, what if S.D. Warren were standing before us today asking to bring his business to Westbrook?
Flash forward to the present. The same city councilor is passionately objecting to Pike Industries moving its operation with its high-paying jobs to Spring Street.
Apparently, being pro business means supporting low-paying retail jobs, which, by the way, our failing economy has been based on, rather than supporting a current Westbrook business that pays well and is the type of business that will ultimately save America.
S.D. Warren would be walking out of Westbrook’s City Council chambers shaking his head in bewilderment.
