The sign over this business (perhaps in North Windham?) proves how the flexible business could repair vehicles ranging from carriages to automobiles. We don’t know the date or the name of the owner, or even any of these men, but perhaps a reader will recognize a familiar face. The picture may have been taken in the early 1900s. In 1915, there were 44 automobiles taxed in Windham and 461 horses. Three years later in 1918, there were 108 autos, 416 horses and 6 carriages. (Photo courtesy of the Windham Historical Society)
