Students at Edna Libby Elementary School in Standish participated in the National Day of Service Monday, Jan. 19, by holding a collection for the local food pantry. The food pantry shelves had been greatly depleted over the holidays, and items that were low in supply and high in demand were suggested for donations. Shopping carts for each grade were placed in the cafeteria and a large graph was made as a visual to show progress. All four shopping carts were full with nonperishable items and paper goods. In all, 492 items were donated to the Standish Food Pantry. Pictured with first grade teacher Bonnie Moreau are kindergarteners Cody Dippolito and Kennedy Libby, first-graders Alex Demers and Haley Marsico, second-graders Samara Qualey and Max Zygald, and third-graders James Conley and Anna Scamman.
