Lynne Belanger of Biddeford is the recipient of the A. William Kany Jr. 2008 Community Service Award, presented annually by Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution.
The award, established in 2006 to honor Kany, who was president of the bank until 1995 and chairman of the board until 2006, is presented to the employee who best exemplifies his passion for helping employees and customers and for community service. Belanger, who joined Saco & Biddeford Savings fresh out of Thornton
Academy in 1977, is vice president and manager of the bank’s Saco office.
Belanger’s service to others was also recognized by a $500 donation presented by the bank in her name to Big Brother Big Sisters of Southern Maine. Among her activities are serving meals at Biddeford’s soup kitchen Bon Appatit, working at the Biddeford High School concession stand, volunteering with local service organization Zonta, supporting battered women and coordinating the Christmas Angel tags for children in need at the holidays.
