The Scarborough Fire Department would like to thank Project Grace for its generous donation of new teddy bears that are used by the department’s EMS crews to help calm children in times of medical and traumatic emergencies.

One of the challenges the department faces is that it cannot make use of “used” stuffed animals due to the potential for allergic reactions from possible contaminants. No matter how well used stuffed animals can be washed, the risk still exists. New bears avoid this concern and remain individually packaged until they are needed.
