Jim Thomas sizes up snowshoes at Rines Forest on Range Road in Cumberland on Saturday. The Cumberland and Chebeague Land Trust held a winter fun day, providing guided snowshoe and cross-country ski tours off the 200-acre property. The Town of Cumberland purchased Rines Forest in 2003. In 2005 the CCLT created a conservation easement to ensure that the forest would remain a natural area and managed forest preserve. It is now part of a 900-acre contiguous block of forest habitat.
