Scarborough police evacuated the new Wal-Mart Superstore on Gallery Boulevard Monday night after an employee reported receiving a bomb threat via the telephone.

The call came in around 7:51 p.m. and police evacuated the building shortly after, Rick Rouse, detective sergeant with Scarborough police said.

Two K-9 units swept the building along with the Maine State Bomb Squad. Nothing was found and employees were allowed back in around 11:21 p.m., Rouse said. Customers were not allowed back in because the store closes at midnight.

“We are still investigating into who made the call,” Rouse said.

Further information was not available Tuesday morning.
