Police are investigating a Shore Road resident’s April 30 complaint about a craigslist transaction gone awry. The person had received a $2,000 check for a $600 item and was asked to wire the buyer the difference. The seller deposited the check and later learned the account had insufficient funds.

Police met with a local business representative on April 30 regarding checks that had been returned for insufficient funds. The police notified the check writer that if restitution is not made in five days, the check writer will be prosecuted.

A Fowler Road resident reported May 2 that a Compaq laptop computer valued at $700 was taken from a motor vehicle.
