Scrumhalf Cole Hutchison scored the try that lifted the Portland U-19 “Power Pigs” boys’ rugby club to a 24-19 win over Kearsage, N.H., in Saturday’s semifinal match. Top-ranked Portland then downed No. 2 Amoskeag, 20-0 to winthe Maine/New Hampshire championship, capping an 8-0 season. Caleb Tracey, Pat MacVane, Ian Keith, Evan Twomey, Will White and Ian Bussiere-Nichols also scored on the day.

“The kids represented their schools, towns, families and team with pride and class,” said coach Rocky Frenzilli. “It was the first championship of any kind for a lot of them. Very cool!”
