South Portland faces an important vote on June 9 when citizens will be asked to approve the 2009/2010 South Portland School Board budget and approve a bond that will go toward making needed physical improvements in South Portland’s middle and high schools.
Good schools benefit all of us in South Portland. They are at the heart of our community, preparing our children for the future, and attracting new families and businesses to our city. We need to protect our investment in our kids, and our schools in South Portland, by voting yes on June 9.
The School Board has decided upon some key improvements – basic upgrades like fire doors, sprinkler systems, and security systems. As a parent, I have closely followed the board’s deliberations on these upgrades. Accordingly, I am personally convinced of the need for these improvements and that all the upgrades sought are long-term solutions to serious problems.
I urge everybody in South Portland to support their schools by coming out and voting yes on June 9.
