SNHU to offer mental
health graduate degree

BRUNSWICK — The Southern New Hampshire University satellite campus in Brunswick will offer a Graduate Program in Community Mental Health beginning in May 2010.

The program will confer a master’s of science degree in community mental health with 48 and 60 hour credit options, with specializations available in integrated community mental health and substance abuse services for adults, or children, youth, and families.

The mental health counseling track will prepare students for licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maine.

Henderson earns second
place in essay contest

BRUNSWICK — Josiah Henderson of Brunswick, a middle school student at North Yarmouth Academy, won second place for his grade in an essay contest addressing “What the American Flag means to me.”

The contest was held by the New England region of the Fleet Reserve Association.

Henderson was sponsored by the Pinetree Branch 156 of Brunswick.

Local students named
Mitchell Scholars

PORTLAND — One student from each of the area public high schools have been named Mitchell Scholars for 2009.

Adrienne Jaeger of Morse High School, Claire Jamison of Mt. Ararat High School and Valerie Smith of Brunswick High School were selected for the award by The Mitchell Institute.

The $5,000 scholarship will be dispersed in increments of $1,250 up to four years.
