NORTH YARMOUTH — Catherine E. “Cassie” Morgan, 86, died Dec. 22 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born in Haverhill, Mass., on Oct. 6, 1923, she was the daughter of Thomas and Edith (Prescot) Trainor Jr.

In 1945 she married Stanley B. Morgan in Bethel.

She enjoyed reading, fishing, camping at Reily Plantation, and spending time with her family.

Additionally, she was a trustee of the Whitman Memorial Library in Bryant Pond.  

She prided herself on always being a “lady.”

A beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her great-grandchildren called her “up a-dittie” because she would sit on the floor and always get up with grace and ease.

She was predeceased by her parents, first husband, Stanley B. Morgan and second husband, Norman LaJoie, and a sister Edith Paul.

She is survived by her son Thomas and his wife Jeanne of South Paris, and daughter Donna Smith and her husband Norman of North Yarmouth; four grandchildren, Shanda Morgan, Thomas Morgan, Christa Ayer, and S. Andrew Smith; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Bryant Pond in the spring.
