HIDALGO, Texas – Billy Thomas scored eight points in the final 3:38 to lead the Maine Red Claws to a 111-106 victory Saturday night against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
The Red Claws rallied from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
Thomas finished with 19 points for the Red Claws on 7-of-10 shooting, including 3 of 3 on 3-pointers. Russell Robinson also scored 19 points and added nine assists.
Maine trailed 86-72 entering the fourth quarter, but rallied to take a 103-101 lead, its first since early in the first quarter, on a 3-pointer by Thomas with 3:38 left.
Antonio Anderson and Jonathan Wallace missed potential tying 3-pointers for the Vipers in the final 9 seconds.
Trey Gilder made a pair of foul shots with 2 seconds left to put the game out of reach. Gilder finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Red Claws.
Michael Harris scored a game-high 30 points for the Vipers.
