U.S. CHAMPIONSHIPS: Walt Shepard of Yarmouth finished second in both the U.S. and North American Championships at Fort Kent.

Shepard, who was also second in Thursday’s sprint, finished 12.5 seconds behind U.S. Olympian Wynn Roberts of Battle Lake, Minn.

Shepard was perfect at his first and last shooting stations but missed two targets on his second stop and one on his third.

HOCKEY

QMJHL: Gabriel Dumont scored 34 seconds into the game, and the Drummondville Voltigeurs got four first-period goals in a 5-1 win over the visiting Lewiston Maineiacs, taking a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven first-round playoff series.

Stefan Fournier scored for Lewiston in the third period, and Adrien Lemay finished with 32 saves.

Game three will be Tuesday night in Lewiston.
