Peggy Stratton has joined Parkview Adventist Medical Center as vice president of clinical services and chief nursing officer. She was an executive consultant at the hospital before being hired.

•  Jane Dobrovolny has been hired at Pierce Atwood LLP as a benefits specialist in the firm’s human resources department. She recently was human resources manager within AAA Northern New England.

•  Thomas Downing has joined Maine Medical Center as director of the Lifeline Workplace Health Program. He was executive director of the Lifeline program at the University of Southern Maine for 21 years.

•  Monica Knight has been named retirement investment counselor in Lebel & Harriman’s client services department. She has a background in banking, later transitioning into the investment profession at a local brokerage firm.

•  Heather Adams of Gray has been promoted to account manager at MOUNTAIN, LTD. She joined the company in 2007 and had been senior recruiter.

•  William Nason has been appointed president and chief executive officer of PM Construction, with Phillip Morin stepping down. Nason takes this role as a longtime business partner and friend of Morin’s.

•  George Laplume has been promoted to vice president of operations and Laura Blanchette has been promoted to director of development and marketing at PM Construction.

•  Christopher Doiron has been promoted to assistant vice president and commercial loan officer at Biddeford Savings. He joined the bank in 2000 as a summer teller and most recently served as a credit analyst and junior commercial lending officer.

•  Amanda Gammon of Limington has been promoted to short-term disability claims supervisor at Custom Disability Solutions, a reinsurer in South Portland.

•  Sandy Trufant of South Portland has been promoted to senior benefit assistant at Custom Disability Solutions.

AWARDS and RECOGNITION

•  Pierce Atwood LLP attorneys were recognized by the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. Malcolm Lyons was honored with the inaugural Founder’s Award. Daniel Stevens was elected treasurer of the association.

•  John Malley of South Portland was presented with a Lifetime of Service Award at the Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual meeting. He has served on the board for 25 years.

•  Giffords Ice Cream, Maine Manufacturing of Sanford, Old Town Canoe Co. – Johnson Outdoors, Sprague & Curtis Real Estate and Yankee Marina & Boatyard have been recognized by Gov. John Baldacci as this year’s Business Award recipients.

•  Tim Bryant, attorney at Preti Flaherty, has been recognized nationally for his expertise and skill in the area of franchise law by Franchise Times magazine. He is one of 125 attorneys nationwide chosen for the 2010 list of Legal Eagles by the national trade publication.

David Jones of Lewiston has received the 2009 Public Works Leader of the Year award from the Maine Chapter of the American Public Works Association. He has worked for the city of Lewiston since 1999, currently as director of public services.

GENERAL

•  Randy Hawkes, a 1992 graduate of the University of Maine School of Law, has become a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is currently the managing attorney of the New Hampshire Public Defender program.

•  Robert Stier, a partner at Pierce Atwood LLP, was one of 54 members elected to the American Law Institute. In his 30 years as a practicing lawyer, he has concentrated on jury trials of cases involving scientific and technical subjects.
