LIMERICK – A man found dead outside his home early Sunday has been identified by state police as Shawn Forsyth.

State police are still investigating Forsyth’s death, said Steve McCausland, a spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

McCausland said an autopsy was performed Sunday on Forsyth, 21, but the state medical examiner had some questions that need to be answered before determining a cause of death.

McCausland said Forsyth and some friends were in his apartment on Washington Street and at some point, Forsyth walked outside. When his friends became concerned about Forsyth’s absence, McCausland said, they went out to look for him and found his body in front of the apartment house at about 1 a.m. Sunday.

Police have delayed categorizing Forsyth’s death, McCausland said, while the investigation continues. He said it may be next week before there are enough answers to allow the medical examiner to declare a cause of death.
