Jordan Denning has been named president of App Publishing, LLC, a Maine-based software development company. He will oversee the launch of the company’s revolutionary mobile commerce business, Mowbi, this summer.

Shaz Kahng has joined lucy activewear as president. Kahng has more than 20 years of experience in product development, merchandising, brand marketing, multi-channel retail and business turnarounds.

Jana Purrell and Michael Morse have joined Baker Newman Noyes. Purrell is manager of the firm’s healthcare consulting division and previously worked as practice administrator for nine hospital-based physician practices. Morse previously worked as an auditor at Ernst & Young.

Dareen Moscrip and Richard Massie have joined Allen & Coles Moving Systems. Moscrip has joined as quality managerwith 15 years of customer service experience. Massie has joined the operations team and has 14 years of experience serving customers in the moving and storage industry.

 Woodard & Curran climbed 28 spots on Engineering News Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms, ranking 113 after coming in at 141 during the previous year.

The Baker Company is the first recipient of the Dr. Mary Jo Wakeman Award. This award recognized the company’s environment that promotes healthy living for employees and various programs and initiatives.

EJ Prescott was recognized for its efforts in providing a safe and healthy work environment by the SafetyWorks! program of the Maine Department of Labor. The award recognizes the company’s high standards and employee involvement in creating a safe workplace.  

St. Mary’s Health System was honored with a Partner for Change Award from Practice Greenhealth, a national membership organization for health care facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations.

Jim Shunk, Poland Spring Water Company truck driver, participated in the 2010 Maine State Truck Driving Championship. He earned first place on the written exam and third place in the overall competition for the tanker class.

Kristine Avery, senior vice president of human resources at FISC Solutions, was awarded the 2010 Maine Human Resources Leader of the Year Award by the Society for Human Resources Management Maine State Council. This award recognizes an active human resources leader who exemplifies excellence in the profession.

Berry Dunn McNeil & Parker was named Best CPA Firm for Women by the American Society of Women Accountants and the American Woman’s Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Sarah Standiford, executive director of the Maine Women’s Lobby, was honored with the Mabel Wadsworth Leadership Torch Award. The award is granted to a Mainer who has demonstrated remarkable contributions to ensuring women’s reproductive rights in the state.

Lisa Laliberte was presented the 2010 Putnam Stevens Award by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Maine. This award recognizes someone who has rendered outstanding service to their industry and community in the state.

GENERAL

John Leonard, president and CEO of the MEMIC Group, has been elected 2010 board chair of the National Council on Compensation Insurance Inc. He has served as a member of the board since 2007.

Goodall Hospital Medical Staff announced new officers, including Kate Morris, president of medical staff, Richard Tockman, vice president of medical staff, and Frank Goudreau, secretary and treasurer of the medical staff.

The Maine Chapter of the Fulbright Association announced its board members for the current term. Officers for the board include Erika Waters, president, Dorothy Kilimis-Zacas, vice president, and Sue Crawford, treasurer. Board members include Karen Boucias, Cindy Lahar, Rob Lively, Elaine Potocker, Susan Picinich and Anatole Wieck.
