The Moose Lottery Drawing will return to southern Maine in 2011 at Cabela’s retail store in Scarborough.

The announcement was made by Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Roland Martin today.

The lottery was held at L.L. Bean in Freeport this year, and has been an annual event since 1980 at various locations across the state.

It draws around a thousand spectators from a pool of 49,000 applicants. Three-thousand tags are awarded for the moose hunt, which takes place in September, October and November.
