Sen. Susan Collins announced today that  members of her staff will meet with the Federal Emergency Management Administration and Mainers to complete flood map updating.

FEMA recently published flood maps for South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport among other communities.

FEMA officials will meet with local officials from South Portland and Cape Elizabeth on Monday, July 12, at the South Portland Community Center at 21 Nelson Road.

A second meeting will be the same day in Portland at a to-be-decided location.

Having community input while updating the maps is critical, as was seen in the collaboration for the Portland Harbor maps, Collins said in a news release.

“I urge local communities to provide relevant data to FEMA during the notice and comment period applicable to the new preliminary maps, and, as necessary, during any subsequent appeal process,” Collins said.
