WATERVILLE — Maine’s Colby College says it has raised $376 million in the largest fundraising campaign in the history of the private liberal arts college.

Trustees Chairman Robert E. Diamond said today that beating the original goal of $370 million despite the global recession represents “a stunning achievement.”

Colby launched the “Reaching the World Campaign” in 2005 to support the college’s activities – financial aid, facilities and academic experience.

Projects funded by the campaign include a $15 million art space expansion to house a $100 million collection donated by Peter and Paula Lunder.
