BATH — The Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying a man involved in the stabbing and attempted robbery of another man on Western Avenue at about 6:45 a.m. on July 7.

The victim told police he was leaving the Big Apple store when two unidentified men approached him. One of the men asked him if he had any money and demanded that he hand over his wallet. The victim was allegedly attacked by the man when he refused.

During the struggle, the assailant pulled a knife out of his pocket and stabbed the victim, who was able to climb to his feet and run away. The second man did not participate in the assault, police said.

The victim was treated for minor injuries and released from Parkview Hospital in Brunswick.

He described the assailant as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, in his mid 20s, weighing about 160 pounds, with orange-red curly hair, freckles and a light complexion. The assailant reportedly wore a black t-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.

The other man was about 5 feet 11 inches, with brown hair and a green hooded sweatshirt.

People with information were asked to call Detective Sgt. Bob Savary at the Bath Police Department at 443-8367. Callers may remain anonymous if they wish.
