PORTLAND — Morrill Post scored three runs in the fifth inning Thursday and went on to a 5-3 victory that handed Nova Seafood its first American Legion baseball loss of the season.

Zach Horton hit an RBI double, Brendan Horton drove in another run with a groundout, and Kyle Piscopo added an RBI single in the fifth for Morrill (10-4) at Harlow Field.

Jonathan Medici, Robert MacDonald and Piscopo each had two hits for Morrill.

Kyle Danielson had two doubles and two RBI, and Cam Brown added two hits for Nova (15-1-1).

MOODY’S COLLISION 14, ANDREWS POST 3: Moody’s Collision sent 14 batters to the plate and scored 12 runs in the second inning against Andrews in a five-inning game at Gorham.

Kyle Butterfield hit a three-run double and an RBI single in the second.

LIBBY-MITCHELL 4, FALMOUTH 0: Lincoln Sanborn struck out eight, walked none and held Falmouth (8-6) to four hits to lead Libby-Mitchell (12-3) at Standish.

Joe Cronin hit an RBI double and Ryan Mancini stroked a two-run single as Libby-Mitchell scored four runs in the first inning.

STAPLES CROSSING 7, FAYETTE-STAPLES 4: Jack Verrill hit a two-out, two-run double during a four-run third inning for Staples Crossing (12-4) against Fayette-Staples (11-4) at South Berwick.

Jake Chamblee added an RBI single in the fourth as Staples Crossing went ahead 5-3.

Chamblee, who had another RBI on a bases-loaded walk in the fifth, and Verrill each had two hits. Chris Stasio led off the game with a home run for Fayette-Staples.

CUMBERLAND 7, OA-YARMOUTH 5: Mike Leeman struck out nine in a complete game and visiting Cumberland (4-11) scored twice on errors in the eighth inning to beat host OA-Yarmouth (5-10).

Pete Stauber had three hits and Ben Shain doubled twice for Cumberland.

MASSABESIC 3, POST-87 NOBLE 2: Shaun McCarthy and David Welch each hit an RBI single to lead Massabesic (4-12) past Post-87 (2-11) at North Berwick.

Welch finished with two singles, an RBI, a run and two stolen bases. Andrew Cessario and Ryan Mose each added a double.

JUNIOR LEGION

SOUTH PORTLAND 8, BRISTOL SEAFOOD 7: William Bushey and Dan Medici drew bases-loaded walks in the seventh inning to lift South Portland (5-10) over visiting Bristol Seafood (8-5).
Bristol scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-6 lead.

SANFORD 7, FAYETTE-STAPLES 6: Down 6-5 with two outs in the seventh inning, Zack Whittier hit a two-run single as Sanford (5-9) beat Fayette-Staples (6-7-1) at Saco.

Ryan Govin added two singles and a run for Sanford.

FALMOUTH 3, KENNEBUNK 0: Falmouth (7-7) took advantage of two errors to score two runs, and Andrew Pochepan added an RBI single during a three-run second inning to beat Kennebunk (8-4) at home.

Spencer Couch pitched a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
