The Washington 5K Challenge Road Race and 1-Mile Fun Run will take place Aug. 7 at 8:30 a.m. The race begins at the Prescott Memorial School on Route 220 in Washington. Registration begins at 7:30. The entry fee is $15 ($30 maximum per family) and includes a T-shirt until they run out. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Washington Community Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to graduating seniors from the town. Showcase League Baseball is holding registration for its Maine tryout, which will be held Aug. 21 in Old Orchard Beach. The league is open to high school players in fall 2010.
