WINDHAM – Windham Merchants scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday night for a 3-2 victory over Cole Post, avoiding an upset in the opener of a three-game series in the quarterfinals of the Junior Legion baseball tournament.

Nate Boyle singled to score Robbie Hamilton with the tying run for top-seeded Windham (18-1). Boyle advanced to third on a double by Dylan Taylor and scored on a single by Mitchell Hodge.

Cody Dube pitched a four-hitter and struck out 18 for Windham.

Ethan Gouin hit an RBI triple and scored to give eighth-seeded Cole Post (8-13) a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning.

Shawn Francoeur had an RBI single for Windham in the sixth.

SEACOAST LAW & TITLE 7, BRISTOL SEAFOOD 6: Brent Martin hit a go-ahead, two-run single as No. 3 Seacoast (15-4) scored four times in the sixth inning to beat No. 6 Bristol (11-9) in Game 1 of a best-of-three quarterfinal series at Westbrook.

Zach Bean had three hits, two runs and two RBI for Seacoast, and Joe Dvilinsky struck out eight in a complete game.

Luke Boyle doubled twice and drove in two runs for Bristol.

 

OA-YARMOUTH 11, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2: Ryan Cody had three doubles and Caleb Uhl was 2 for 4 with two RBI to pace fourth-seeded OA-Yarmouth (13-6) in a victory against fifth-ranked Gray-New Gloucester (11-9) in the opener of a best-of-three quarterfinal series at Yarmouth.
