CAPE ELIZABETH — Louise M. Farrington, 90, died Sept. 10 at The Village Crossings.

On Dec. 1, 1919, she was born in Machiasport, a daughter of Captain Edwin P. and Gracie M. (Clark) Pettegrow.

After she graduated from Washington Academy in 1937, she moved to South Portland where she met and married Frederick A. Farrington.

Over the years she worked in local sardine factories and at Pratt Abbott Cleaners until she retired at age 70.

She and her husband enjoyed square dancing, spending time at their cottage in Poland Springs and winters in Ft. Myers, Fla.

She enjoyed watching the Celtics, attending her great-grandson Damian’s sports events, and country music.

For the past two years she lived at The Village Crossings, where she was cared for by a wonderful staff and made many friends.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at The Village Crossings, Dr. Christopher Wellins, Pastor Dwayne and Melodie Hopkins, and Beacon Hospice.

Her husband of 60 years, Fred, predeceased her in 1999. She was also predeceased by five sisters, Lura Trask, Cora Reynolds, Sadie Johnson, Gladys Kinghorn and Shirley Dow.

Surviving are her two sons, Kenneth and his wife Denise of Oxford, and Dennis and his wife Donna of South Portland; her grandson, Kenneth Jr. of Raymond, and her granddaughter, Sherry Ramsdell and husband Ivan Jr. of Scarborough; two great-grandchildren, Damian Ramsdell and Megan Farrington; her brother-in-law, Richard Farrington of Limington, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and John Libby of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland, with a reception for family and friends to follow at the E. Hobbs Hospitality Center, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
