“A Taste of It All: Celebrating the Mood of Food” is a homegrown cookbook by Georgia Manzo Joachim, who has lived her entire life in northern Maine.

The book’s chapters focus on the mood of a given life event (“Graduation Day,” “A Slice of Christmas”) or season (“March Impatience,” “Late Summer Rain”) and creates recipes and menus around that theme. The menus are often accompanied by book and music suggestions to enhance the experience of cooking and eating.

And so, under a chapter called “Leaves of Contentment,” you’ll find a suggested menu of Black Velvet (stout and champagne), Cottage Cheese Dill Bread, Beef Stew, and Baked Apples with Whipped Cream.

The music to accompany your autumn repast, Joachim says, should be “Live at Blues Alley” by Eva Cassidy or “Slippin’ In” by Buddy Guy.
