Dispatchers throughout central Maine are reporting numerous accidents due to icy roads.

Most of the crashes appear to be minor, but crews are responding to a rollover crash in Vassalboro and accidents in the Fayette and Readfield areas. Cars also were reportedly off the road on Interstate 95 in Augusta. There also were reports of two crashes involving tractor trailers and cars in the north and southbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 130 in Waterville.

Speed limits on the interstate have been reduced to 45 mph.

Light rain continues to fall sporadically as temperatures hover just above the freezing mark throughout the region.

The National Weather Service expects temperatures to rise to around 40 degrees by this afternoon.
